I saw the dark side of wooden trellises today. I am visiting my sister and her family in San Jose for the weekend. On a windy gray afternoon, we went to Byington Winery up in the Santa Cruz mountains where we like to play bocci ball on their one and only outside court (if you pass this way I recommend you stop in for a glass or two and a game). While my brother-in-law was clobbering me at bocci ball, I noticed that the gray and weatherworn court-side wooden trellis was fading away – its better days are definitely well behind it. Okay, the weather-worn look may be kind of cool for the winery, but in Reno this thing would be toast. Down the road when I expand Forever Awnings into California I’ll come back and see if the winery is up for a “forever” upgrade.
